How to Choose the Right Wardrobe for Your Room

A wardrobe should provide useful storage without making the bedroom difficult to move around. Before choosing one, consider the available wall width, ceiling height, door clearance and the type of clothes you need to store.

Measure the wall first

Check width, depth and height, including skirting boards and any sloping ceilings. Make sure the wardrobe will not cover sockets, vents or radiators.

Hinged doors need clearance

Traditional wardrobe doors need free space in front of the cabinet. In a tight room, check that the doors will not collide with the bed or another item of furniture.

Think about internal storage

Decide whether you need more hanging space, shelves, drawers or a combination. Open wardrobes can suit rooms where quick access matters, while covered or enclosed wardrobes hide clothes and storage.

Check delivery access

Large wardrobe packages can be long and heavy. Measure staircases, doorways and turns before ordering.

Browse current bedroom storage and cabinet and cupboard options, and check each product's dimensions before purchase.
